Jacob’s Thoughts:
A heartbreaking loss to end the Lady Patriots season. East led this game for the first three quarters, but ran out of gas in the 4th as the Lady Devils pulled away at the very end. Scoring for Unicoi, 21 for Allie Lingerfelt, 8 for Abigail Vidrio, 7 for Noel Farner, 4 for Faith Bennett, 2 for Kaley Toney and Laney Rogers, and 1 for Haley Rush. For East, 10 points for senior Kyllie Hurley, and junior Sophie Johnson, 87 for Paulina Hofer, 4 for Asia Cairnes, and 2 for Addison Holly.
Boys Final Score: Sullivan East- 66 Elizabethton-64
Jacob’s Thoughts:
For three quarters, this game was not fun to watch if you were a Sullivan East fan. Elizabethton came out and smacked the Patriots in the mouth going to halftime up by 20 points, and the 4th quarter by 16. East’s Scoring saw Tyler Cross lead with 17, followed by 14 from Drake Fisher and Ben Lowe, 11 from Zach Johnson, 5 from Tom Ridelhuber, 3 from Ethan Donohue and 2 for Corbin Laisure. The final box score for the 2023-2024 Cyclones saw Jackson Hobbs finishing with 17, 11 for Andrew Barnett and Hudson Pate, 10 for Hudson Smith, 8 for Mac Paulson, 4 from Will Churchill, 2 for Zach Wallin, and 1 from Jackson Buckles.The 4th quarter was truly the story of this game, with East scoring 31 points for the win, which was achieved by a buzzer beater layup by Drake Fisher. Ethan Donohue and Tyler cross both had some great steals and defensive showing helping the Patriots win, and go on to Face Tennessee High for birth to the championship game.
