Sullivan East Patriots Vs. Mentor Ohio Cardinals
Final Score: SE 76 – MO 99
Jacobs thoughts:
While the score may not seem close, this game was much closer than believed. Both teams like to play at a fast pace, both teams like to shoot the three, but Mentor had the advantage on bench production. When Mentor made a substitution during the game, they never had a non-shooter on the floor. Evidence of this was the setting of a new Arby’s Classic record, with 17 made 3 pointers from the Cardinals. The Patriots themselves had a fantastic performance chrome junior forward Corbin Laisure who led both teams in scoring with 38 points. Drake Fisher for the Patriots in the past has been the teams major source of offense, but was limited to just 3 points from the staunch defense played by Cardinal defenders.
What this loss allows the Patriots to do is learn how to handle in your face defense for 8 minutes straight for all four quarters with no rest given whatsoever. Fisher will need the ball in his hands, and will need to produce in the scoring column in order to allow his teammates like Laisure, Zach Johnson, and Tyler Cross to score and help the overall success of the Patriots. With conference play right around the corner, the Patriots will need to learn from their mistakes and use them to help make success down the road.
The next game for the Patriots will be against the Dorman Cavaliers of Roebuck South Carolina, who fell in the Arby’s Classic to the George Wythe Maroons.
