Sullivan East Patriots vs Dorman High School Cavaliers
Final Score: SE 37 – DH 50
Jacobs Thoughts:
This game was not pretty for either team. The Dorman Cavaliers, the defending state champions in South Carolina had some great play today from their guards, which gave the East Patriots some issues with tough in your face defense, and 3 point shooting ability. The Patriots had a few players get into foul trouble early, but some great play was seen from Ethan Donohue who came off the bench. Drake Fisher again had a poor offensive showing, but had some of the opposing team’s best defenders on him at all times while he was on the hardwood.
Lessons to be learned from this game include following your shot, and team rebounding. The Patriots like to shoot the three, but usually only have one person, usually being Corbin Laisure, being the main rebounder. Zach Johnson who stands at 6’5 should be getting more rebounds and Tyler Cross who I believe to be the teams best overall athlete should be getting them as well.
With Conference play a week away, the patriots are going to need to show grit and determination to win in a competitive conference with foes such as Tennessee High, Unicoi County, Elizabethton, and newcomer David Crockett. More thoughts to follow with stats as the season rolls on.
