Sullivan East Patriots Vs. Unicoi County Blue Devils
Girls Final Score: SE: 46 UC: 66
Jacob’s Thoughts:
This game was rough for both teams. This game honestly resembled a rugby match more than a basketball game. Paulina Hoefer lead the Lady Patriots with 16, followed by Asia Cairns with 14, for Unicoi County, Allie Lingerfelt had 19, Faith Bennett had 18, and Haley Rush had 12. Lots of excessive contact, turnovers, and just bad plates led to this Lady Patriot defeat, not to mention an injury that was allowed due to the officials letting this go for too long. The press once again was the kryptonite for the lady patriots, and hopefully they can turn it around for the next matchup with David Crockett.

Jacob’s Thoughts:
I anticipated this matchup to be one of the best games of the season in the Upper Lakes conference. Once the horn sounded, similarities to last year’s series with Unicoi county began to show with the Devils holding a 15-7 advantage. In the second quarter, the patriots would double the scoring effort of Unicoi county, going into halftime tied 23-23 after a Tyler Cross buzzer beater 3. The 3rd quarter is where the Patriots would dominate, scoring 30 points, and dominating Unicoi County as soon as the buzzer for play sounded. The 4th saw the Patriots grot their lead more, and just put the Devils to sleep. For Unicoi, Jackson Simmons shined with 25 points overall, but by the 4th with his team down, frustration began to show, resulting in a technical foul being assessed to him in a verbal scrum with Drake Fisher, who also received a technical foul. For the Patriots, Fisher finished with 20, and Corbin Laisure finished with 28 utilizing his size and skill advantage over the Blue Devils, who had no answer for the 6ft5in 230lb post man. Corbin even had a beautiful dunk over 3 devils, one that was an exclamation point on a great overall night for this team.
