Jacob’s Thoughts:
Physicality dominated this game for all four quarters. Elizabethton played in your face, full court man defense for the entire game, and gave the Lady Patriots issues from the tip. Three point shooting on the offensive end also helped the Lady Cyclones create and hold separation from the Lady Patriots, and towards the end, making a comeback impossible for the Layt Patriots. As mentioned earlier, turnovers and physical play is what led to this Upper Lakes Conference loss for the Lady Patriots, but there were some shining spots in the dim outcome. Asia Cairns picks up where she left off last year being an offensive dynamo, and Freshman Emma Whitaker gives this broadcaster Jenna Hare vibes, provided the team around her continues to grow. Losing Paulina Hofer at first spelled doom for this team, but in time, I truly believe the Lady Patriots will be back in the conference championship conversation for the Upper Lakes Conference.

Jacob’s Thoughts:
The score of this game can be boiled down to in-experience, and rebuilding. Elizabethton was a team on a mission this game, with smart passing, good shooting, and team chemistry helping push the Cyclones to victory. Guard duo Barnett and Pate led the charge for all 4 quarters, with the big man rotation essentially cleaning up the glass, and chipping in bit by bit. For the Patriots, not having a reliable ball handler to lead the charge just decimated their chances in the second half, and simple mistakes just made a comeback impossible. Eli Hubbard on the other hand, is a man amongst boys. The Sophomore forward had 20 point in the game, a steal, a block, and some fantastic plays as facilitator from the high post. This Patriots team needs 2 things that will help them under New coach Brandon Barnes: Time and Patience. There are glimpses of greatness seen in these games from the boys, but sadly inexperience smothers that flame ninety nine times out of one hundred.
Next game for the Patriots and Lady Patriots is a week from Friday 1/17/25 as these Patriot teams travel to Viking Hall to take on the mighty Vikings of Tennessee High. Coverage begins at around 6:30 on 93.7 GOAT FM and here on MyGoatFM.com, just click Listen Live!
